About Me.
Artist Statement
My art work in ceramics is multifaceted. I am the combination of a ceramicist, potter, community arts organizer, arts educator and mother. My work is contained in many types of clays, and crosses many categories. Like my ethnicity, I am as much Mexican-American as I am Native American. I am equally both parts. My ceramics is an actual extension of my life and my experiences. I create from who I am and what I am interested in. I see my work in clay as an interwoven relationship. As with most relationships including parenting, they take work, time, nurturing, love and understanding. They also include failures and misunderstandings that in turn, all result in patience and humility. This is my life-long relationship with clay. EDUCATION
